The Rockport Garden Club Service Committee provides services to both Oceanside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, (formerly DenMar Center) and to The Open Door, which provides food and hospitality. Our service efforts are enthusiastically received and appreciated.
At Oceanside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, garden club members arrange baskets of flowers for the dining room and nurses’ stations both for Mother’s Day and for the Christmas holiday season.
At “The Open Door” we host and serve three dinners each year (April, July & October) for those seeking a meal in an inviting social setting. Garden club volunteers provide and serve the meal, which includes salad fixings and delicious homemade dessert bars as well as a delicious entree.
The Rockport High School scholarship is awarded to a Rockport resident graduating from high school who has demonstrated leadership in a ‘Green initiative’: e.g. horticulture, sustainability, ecology, environmental protection, conservation or a related field and plans to pursue further education in such a field. This scholarship is currently defined as a $2000 endowment and may be awarded to any student/s approved by the board.
During the year, many of our club members work diligently to maintain 13 gardens at various venues throughout Rockport.
Members work in teams to lovingly plant, cultivate, weed, deadhead and water these town gardens which add a great deal of charm and beauty to Rockport.
Maintaining these beautiful gardens is one of our primary missions.
Seasonal themes are created with actual, full size skiffs.
The Rockport Garden Club awards large donations to the Town of Rockport for public beautification projects.
