"Essential Culinary Herbs"
Growing herbs can be as simple as a pot of basil on your windowsill
or as complicated as an old English knot garden. Your herb garden can be
whatever you want it to be. This program will discuss how to design and plan
an herb garden to suit your kitchen needs while composing a beautiful garden space.
Container and companion herb plantings will also be discussed as well as how to create
gardens for Italian, French and other cooking styles. We'll also talk about the 'rules'
of design and when and why to break them.

  Shade gardening need not be frustrating. This talk will introduce you to enchanting
perennials, flowering shrubs and annuals for stunning spring, summer and fall color.
Presentation includes tips and care of these gardens.

Jazzy containers are the "jewelry" of a garden, elevating it from good
to great:! Learn how to brighten shady spots with pops of color,
create focal points for vistas, and welcoming entry gardens with
stunning container groupings.  From whimsical to grand, these
pots with pizzazz from private and public gardens will inspire and
teach you to design your own potted masterpieces!

FIELD TRIP:  Stevens-Coolidge Place, Garden and House Tour, North Andover
9:00-1:00 Meet at the Transfer Station to carpool to North Andover
Kevin Block, Horticulturalist/Superintendent will lead a tour of gardens
and the house. This is an example of an estate in the "Country Place" style.
It is a Trustees of the Reservations property. Bring a bag lunch and drink
and wear comfortable shoes.

  "Clematis:  Queen of the Climbing Vines:"
There are over 300 species and 1,000 cultivars.  Clematis is ideally suited to our
climate and some bloom for up to 16 weeks.  Cheryl's garden with its 50 clematis is
proof that a beautiful clematis provides years of the 'wow' factor in the garden.
